Central Florida's summer heat is turning serious this week. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Orange County — home to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort — on Monday, July 27, running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. While actual temperatures are expected to stay in the low-to-mid 90s, the heat index could make it feel as hot as 109 degrees outside.
Every major gate falls inside the advisory zone: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe are all affected. The timing is significant because the advisory kicks in right as parks typically hit peak attendance, and conditions will remain dangerous through the evening hours.
Park guests can manage the heat with a few adjustments to their day. Arriving early to tackle outdoor rides before 11 a.m., then retreating to long indoor attractions or a sit-down lunch during the hottest afternoon hours, can make a full day much more comfortable. Some families staying nearby may prefer a midday hotel break to recharge before returning in the evening.
Hydration is equally critical. Officials recommend drinking water consistently throughout the day — before you feel thirsty — rather than relying on soda or coffee. Families should pay special attention to young children and older adults, who may not always signal when they're struggling with the heat. Anyone feeling dizzy, unusually weak, or confused should get out of the sun immediately and locate the nearest First Aid station.
This is not the first advisory of the season; Central Florida saw multiple heat events earlier this summer as well.
