Guests heading to Magic Kingdom or the monorail-area resorts may notice something different at Walt Disney World's Transportation & Ticket Center: new, taller blue barriers have been installed in the Heroes parking lot, replacing the shorter red ones previously in place. The change, first reported by WDWNT, separates the parking tram lane from the general guest parking area. As of now, the new barriers are only on the Heroes side of the lot — the Villains side has not been updated. Disney has not made any public statement about the installation.
The Transportation & Ticket Center is the sole guest parking area for Magic Kingdom Park, and it serves as the departure point for monorail and boat transportation to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Contemporary Resort, and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. That connectivity has long made it a convenient launchpad for resort hopping — the popular pastime of exploring Disney's hotels for shopping, dining, and atmosphere without a park ticket.
This physical change is the latest in a string of moves that suggest Walt Disney World is tightening access to its resort areas. Over recent months, the company restricted bus and boat service at Disney Springs to hotel guests only, increased security on the walking path between the Transportation & Ticket Center and the Polynesian Village Resort, and signaled that holiday decorations at resort hotels are intended for overnight guests or those with dining reservations — noting, for instance, that the beloved Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian will not return in 2026.
Together, the changes paint a picture of a resort gradually drawing clearer lines between guests who are staying on property and those who are not. Whether more formal enforcement measures follow remains to be seen, but the direction of travel seems clear.
