Guests heading to Walt Disney World in 2026 have more to prepare for than dining reservations and ride schedules. Disney has introduced or more strictly enforced seven rules across transportation, resort perks, merchandise events, attraction queues, and payments — and some of them took effect with little fanfare.
One of the more noticeable shifts involves Disney Springs transportation. As of June 2026, guests boarding buses or boats from Disney Springs to a resort hotel must meet eligibility requirements — either staying at a Disney hotel or holding a qualifying reservation at the destination. Cast Members can check before boarding, so simply spending an afternoon at Disney Springs no longer guarantees a ride to a resort. On the merchandise side, parking garages and rideshare loops at Disney Springs now stay closed until 7 a.m. on release mornings, putting real teeth into an overnight-stay prohibition that existed before but wasn't consistently enforced.
Resort guests saw a perk get a new boundary: the complimentary water park admission on check-in day — introduced in 2025 — now applies only to arrivals between May 26 and September 8, 2026. Disney Vacation Club members got a clearer warning, too. Disney clarified in March 2026 that repeatedly renting points or reservations as a commercial venture can result in restricted banking and borrowing privileges or canceled future stays, even though occasional rentals remain allowed. Third-party businesses operating on Disney property without authorization are also facing more aggressive enforcement, following a wave of cease-and-desist notices sent in January 2026.
Inside the parks, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT has new crowd-flow procedures, with Cast Members holding groups and directing movement after the pre-show to prevent bottlenecking. On a more guest-friendly note, My Disney Experience was updated in June to let eligible Disney Gift Cards be saved in the app for future purchases, sparing guests the hassle of re-entering card details for every mobile food order.
