Disney World could bring back a mobile-order restriction it tested during the busy Fourth of July period, according to Disney Food Blog. The earlier test limited mobile ordering at select resort quick-service restaurants to guests who were physically near the location.

Guests who tried to order from farther away through the My Disney Experience app received a message saying they were too far away and needed to move closer before placing an order. Once near the restaurant, they could use mobile order normally.

The test applied to Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Geyser Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Mobile ordering otherwise continued to work normally elsewhere at the resort, Disney Food Blog reported.

Disney has not announced that the location requirement will return. Disney Food Blog suggested it could be considered again during the year-end holiday season, when the resort’s Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s periods are among its busiest.

For now, guests planning Walt Disney World dining can continue to use the My Disney Experience app’s mobile-order process where it is available. If the earlier test returns, resort guests ordering from those locations may need to be close to the restaurant before submitting an order.
