A little flexibility in your approach can actually deliver a better experience with far less stress.
Arriving early to stake out a prime location turns out to be largely unnecessary. Spots to watch both Magic Kingdom's Happily Ever After and EPCOT's Luminous remain available just minutes before showtime, with clear sightlines and full audio — no two-hour vigil required.
Staying anchored to Main Street for Happily Ever After is another habit worth dropping. Fantasyland near Prince Charming Regal Carousel offers open space and a clear castle view, while Tomorrowland near Astrofizz tends to be one of the least crowded viewing areas in the park, even if the castle is out of frame. And you don't have to be inside a park at all — California Grill's private fireworks balcony, the beach at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, the fourth floor of the Contemporary Resort, and the Grand Floridian's boat dock all offer great views with music piped through the speakers.
Finally, the fireworks window is one of the best times to ride attractions, since wait times at Magic Kingdom drop significantly during the show. Rides with outdoor segments — including Astro Orbiter, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — even offer aerial glimpses of the display while you're in line or aboard.
