Disney World is deep in a construction boom right now, with 18 lands, attractions, restaurants, shops, and hotels simultaneously closed or under refurbishment. Before you finalize your packing list, it's worth knowing which experiences won't be available during your trip — especially since several closures are permanent.
At Magic Kingdom, the Carousel of Progress closed July 6 for a major overhaul that will modernize its scenes and add a Walt Disney animatronic to the opening; it's expected to reopen sometime in 2027. More significantly, the Rivers of America area — including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island — permanently closed July 7 to make room for Piston Peak National Park, a new Cars-themed expansion with two brand-new attractions. At Disney's Hollywood Studios, Muppets Courtyard has been walled off since June 8 for the future Monstropolis land, taking Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano out of service; that new Monsters, Inc.-themed area is targeting a 2027 opening. Vacation Fun is also currently closed and being used as an Annual Passholder magnet distribution site through September 24.
Over at EPCOT, the La Signature fragrance boutique in the France Pavilion has been closed since June 30, though Guerlain products are temporarily available at nearby Plume Et Palette. Parts of the Germany Pavilion — including the Volkskunst store and guest bathrooms — closed July 13 for refurbishment. At Animal Kingdom, DinoLand USA is fully gone, replaced by an active construction site for Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land that will feature three new rides: El Carrusel de los Animalitos, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto.
On the resort side, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort began a Convention Center refurbishment on August 10 that runs through September 2027, with the El Centro Corridor also affected. Old Key West Resort's Sassagoula River Cruise boat dock to Disney Springs closed July 20, with bus service standing in as the alternative in the meantime.
