August is shaping up to be one of the most eventful months of the year at Walt Disney World, with Halloween celebrations launching, major festivals beginning, and several resort and transportation updates taking effect.
Magic Kingdom will kick off its fall transformation with Halloween and autumn dΓ©cor expected to be in place ahead of the first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 7th. The special ticketed event β which runs on select nights through October 31st β features exclusive entertainment, character experiences, ride overlays, and themed food and drinks. Guests should note that Magic Kingdom closes at 6 PM on party nights. Typhoon Lagoon also gets in on the after-hours fun, with H2O Glow Nights scheduled for August 9th, 22nd, and 29th, and Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic events on August 4th and 20th.
EPCOT has a packed August as well. After Hours events are set for August 6th and 13th, and the park's biggest festival of the year β the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival β opens August 27th and runs through November 21st, bringing more than 30 food booths, the Eat to the Beat concert series, and special activities. Deluxe resort guests can also take advantage of Extended Evening Hours at EPCOT on multiple Monday nights throughout the month.
On the resort side, the lengthy room refurbishment at Disney's Port Orleans Resort β Riverside is expected to wrap up in August, bringing quieter conditions back to the property. The Sassagoula River Cruise boat route between Old Key West and Disney Springs is also anticipated to reopen in early August after a refurbishment closure. Meanwhile, at Saratoga Springs Resort, the Turf Club Bar and Grill will temporarily close August 31st, though the Turf Club Lounge is expected to reopen in late August.
