Walt Disney World is quietly moving toward handling more of its own vacation planning — and a new AI tool at the center of that shift is now being tested by Cast Members on DisneyWorld.com. The feature, called AI Overview, is designed to answer guest questions in a conversational way without sending visitors hunting through multiple pages of the site.

For families who currently rely on Disney-specialized travel agents to sort through resort options, dining windows, Lightning Lane strategies, and constantly changing park policies, the tool could eventually serve as a capable alternative. Because Disney controls its own operational data, the AI has the potential to pull real-time information — think current wait times, same-night dining availability, or weather-related entertainment cancellations — that third-party planners simply can't access as quickly.

That doesn't mean Disney travel agents are headed for extinction. Many guests genuinely value the personalized attention and deep experience those planners bring, and Disney currently pays agent commissions, making the service essentially free to families. But if Disney's own website can offer instant, customized answers around the clock, some guests may find they no longer feel the need to reach out to an outside expert at all.

The Cast Member testing phase is an important hurdle, not a finish line. Disney will need to iron out accuracy issues before opening the tool to the public, since theme park conditions shift quickly and guests expect official Disney sources to be reliable. A rocky rollout could set back trust in the whole system.
