Guests staying at Disney's Yacht Club Resort can once again hop aboard a FriendShip boat, as the resort's boat dock reopened on August 29th after a refurbishment that stretched well beyond its original timeline.
The dock had closed on August 17th with an expected reopening of August 22nd, but workers discovered more structural damage than anticipated once the job was underway. When Disney Food Blog visited on the 22nd, the top wooden planks had been removed and the underlying beams were covered with plywood — far from ready for guests. A Cast Member on site confirmed that crews needed roughly another week to complete the repairs, even as the Walt Disney World website had already listed the dock as open.
While the dock was out of commission, Yacht Club guests had a few workarounds: walking to EPCOT's International Gateway entrance, riding the Skyliner to Disney's Hollywood Studios, or making their way to nearby FriendShip boat stops at Disney's BoardWalk Inn or the Swan & Dolphin. Those detours are no longer necessary now that the Yacht Club dock is back in service.
The FriendShip boats are a beloved perk of staying in the EPCOT Resorts area, offering a relaxing, scenic alternative to walking or busing between the resort hotels, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. Having the Yacht Club stop fully operational again restores the full network for guests in that resort cluster.
