Guests staying at Disney's Old Key West Resort who were counting on a leisurely boat ride to Disney Springs will need to adjust their plans this summer. The Sassagoula River Cruise boat service is temporarily suspended from July 20th through early August while refurbishment work takes place along the route. Bus service to Disney Springs remains available as an alternative during the closure.
The boat service isn't the only thing under wraps at the resort right now. Exterior work on the Hospitality House is ongoing, with the completion window now listed as mid-September 2026 on some parts of Disney's website, though it had originally been noted as early June 2026. Guests can expect to see and hear daytime construction activity and may occasionally be redirected along alternate pathways.
Golfers should also note that the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, which sits alongside the resort, is closed for renovations through October 2026. Rooms with golf course views could see some impact until that work wraps up.
Despite the ongoing projects, Old Key West remains open and bookable — even for guests who aren't Disney Vacation Club members, subject to availability. The resort's Olivia's Cafe continues to serve as a low-key dining gem worth a reservation whether you're staying on-site or just passing through.
