Visitors to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort on July 27 spotted a visible milestone in the ongoing refurbishment work: the scaffolding that had surrounded Wailulu Bar & Grill has been taken down. The bar closed back in April for a roof refurbishment, and its exterior is now more visible as that work continues.
Progress is also underway at the Great Ceremonial House, though the pace there has been described as gradual. Earlier this spring, crews repainted the building's exterior vertical beams; as of this week, workers were seen installing metal paneling on those same beams. Heavy scaffolding still covers much of the facade, making it difficult to assess the full scope of work being done, particularly on the roof.
For guests planning a visit, the terrace seating near the Great Ceremonial House is currently open. However, Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace remains closed, so those hoping to stop by the beloved outdoor bar will need to wait a bit longer.
