Walt Disney World is spotlighting the cast member behind its Espresso Martini Milkshake, an adults-only drink now served at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

According to Disney, Dan Laske developed the concept after working as a guest experience manager at World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Laske began his Disney career in 2015 through the Disney College Program as a housekeeping cast member at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, then held food and beverage roles at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, All-Star Movies Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.

Now a beverage concept and program manager, Laske supports beverage programs across Walt Disney World. His milkshake idea paired coffee and ice cream, two items he regularly saw guests enjoy at the food court.

The finished Espresso Martini Milkshake combines Absolut Vodka, Mozart Chocolate Liqueur, espresso and hand-scooped vanilla ice cream, with sweet cream on top. It is available only to guests ages 21 and older at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant.

Disney said Laske worked with its Food and Beverage Concept team and frontline cast members to source ingredients, refine the recipe and ensure it could be made consistently in a busy restaurant. The drink went through about 10 rounds of testing, including adjustments to ingredients, proportions and preparation.

A related Espresso Martini Gelato Milkshake, made with French vanilla gelato, is served at Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Disney’s fall frozen-drink additions also include a Peaches and Cream slush at Backlot Express, The Friar’s Nook and Flame Tree Barbecue, plus a S’mores Gelato Milkshake at Connections Eatery in EPCOT.
