An aerial photo taken in late August 2026 revealed something unexpected lurking behind Frankenstein Manor in Epic Universe's Dark Universe land: three large monster figures — Frankenstein's Monster, the Wolf Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon — sitting in the middle of an active expansion site. The discovery was first shared by theme park aerial photographer bioreconstruct on X.
Longtime Universal Studios Florida visitors may recognize the trio. The figures spent more than two decades at Classic Monsters Cafe before that restaurant permanently closed in May 2022. Universal later converted the space into Minion Land, with Minion Cafe taking over the footprint. Apparently, the decorative pieces were kept rather than discarded.
Their reappearance near the Dark Universe expansion area is fueling fan speculation, particularly around the Creature from the Black Lagoon, who has been a recurring name in rumors about what Universal might add to its monster-themed land. A dedicated Creature attraction has come up frequently in fan conversations, though Universal has made no official announcement about any such project.
It's worth keeping expectations measured. Dumpsters and sorted materials were also visible in the aerial image, suggesting the site is in active preparation — and the figures could simply be in temporary storage before being moved elsewhere. Universal could incorporate them into a future dining concept, an attraction queue, or exterior theming, but none of those outcomes have been confirmed.

Other unconfirmed possibilities floating around the Dark Universe expansion include a Bride of Frankenstein-themed attraction and a family-friendly or children's area. For now, the expansion's identity remains wide open. This story was originally reported by Disney Fanatic.
