Hogwarts Castle is about to get a lot more ominous. Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle returns to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure on select evenings from September 5 through November 1, 2026 — marking the show's first appearance since 2022.
The experience transforms Hogwarts into a massive projection canvas after sunset, conjuring Dementors, Death Eaters and ultimately Lord Voldemort across the castle's facade through a combination of lights, projections and music. It's a dramatic tonal shift from the daytime park, where the same castle serves as the cheerful backdrop for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
Fans don't have to wait until September 5 for a taste of the darker wizarding atmosphere, though. Death Eaters began stalking the streets of Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida on August 27, challenging guests on their loyalties on select dates. The two offerings operate in separate parks, giving Harry Potter enthusiasts a compelling reason to spend meaningful time in both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley this season. Universal has also released a new Lord Voldemort-inspired Second Generation Interactive Wand and additional Dark Arts merchandise available at locations including Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley.
The timing layers neatly with Halloween Horror Nights 2026, which opened at Universal Studios Florida on August 28 and runs on select nights through November 1, celebrating the event's 35th anniversary with haunted houses, scare zones and live entertainment. While the Death Eaters and Dark Arts are separate from Halloween Horror Nights, the overlapping calendar creates an unusually dark and immersive atmosphere across the resort during September and October. Universal is framing much of this fall programming around its 25 Years of Magic celebration, marking a quarter century since the first Harry Potter film.
