After a roughly four-year absence, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle is making its return to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure. Universal Orlando's official 2026 event calendar confirms the fan-favorite nighttime experience will be back on select fall evenings, and the attraction's page is currently listed as temporarily closed ahead of that comeback.

The show transforms Hogwarts Castle after dark with ominous projection imagery, music and the appearance of Dementors and Death Eaters — culminating in a visual confrontation with Lord Voldemort himself. It's a notably darker experience than the castle's current regular nighttime offering, Hogwarts Always, which takes guests through a school-year celebration projected across the same facade. Universal has made clear the two shows are seasonal offerings that rotate throughout the year, so Dark Arts is not replacing Hogwarts Always permanently.

Beyond Hogsmeade, Universal says the fall programming will also bring roaming Death Eaters into Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida — giving guests across both parks a taste of the dark wizarding atmosphere. It's worth noting that Dark Arts is a separate Wizarding World event and not part of Halloween Horror Nights 35, which runs on select nights August 28 through November 1, 2026.

The return comes on the heels of a busy year for the landmark itself. Hogwarts Castle spent part of spring 2026 partially obscured by scaffolding and construction scrims during an exterior refurbishment before reopening to the familiar views guests expect. Universal's Back to Hogwarts celebration also ran August 1 through September 1, 2026, keeping Hogsmeade at the center of the resort's entertainment calendar even as the newer Ministry of Magic area at Epic Universe expands the Wizarding World's footprint across property.
