Guests strolling past the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom may notice something a little different underfoot. Walt Disney World Resort poured fresh concrete outside the beloved Winnie the Pooh character dining location in late August 2026, extending the walkway near the Table-Service restaurant by a modest but visible amount.
The project didn't happen overnight. Disney cast members first blocked the area with rolling planters and construction walls before clearing the ground, installing a new curb, and finally filling the space with concrete. The whole process unfolded gradually enough that regular park visitors likely watched it progress over several weeks.
What exactly Walt Disney World plans to do with the expanded pavement isn't confirmed. The leading theories are practical ones: extra queuing room for guests waiting on a Crystal Palace reservation, or a dedicated stroller parking area for families dining inside. Either would make sense given how foot traffic tends to bottleneck near Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A.
Importantly, the construction has been purely an outside job. Reservations at the Crystal Palace have remained open and the dining experience inside has continued without interruption throughout the project. Disney has not made any official announcement about the new sidewalk section.
