The United States is turning 250, and Tampa Bay's arts community is rising to the occasion with a roster of events that go well beyond fireworks and parades.

In St. Petersburg, The Dalí Museum is joining the America 250 celebration with its own creative programming, while Jobsite Theater in Tampa is also getting in on the anniversary spirit with a production tied to the milestone.

Art lovers have even more to look forward to this month: a Banksy exhibition is on view at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, giving Tampa audiences a rare chance to experience the elusive street artist's work up close.

Over at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, an exhibition by artist Richard Heipp is drawing attention as a must-see show for those willing to venture a bit further afield in the region.

Full details on each event were reported by the Tampa Bay Times.
