Boarding Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney's Hollywood Studios just got a little less chaotic. Cast Members now assign each waiting party a number before they step onto the ride platform, directing them to a specific rocket rather than letting guests choose on their own.

Star-shaped numbered floor markers have been added to both of the attraction's boarding areas, giving parties a designated spot to wait until their platform opens. White numerals displayed on the fins of each rocket correspond to the assigned numbers, making it easy to locate the right vehicle. Each platform has eleven rockets, meaning the system covers all available ride vehicles across both sides.

The change appears designed to smooth out the loading process on an attraction that operates with multiple rockets spread across two neighboring platforms. Assigning vehicles in advance could help Cast Members distribute parties more evenly and get the ride dispatched more efficiently.

A permit filed by Disney in May listed Icarus Exhibits, Inc. as the contractor for unspecified "set elements" at the attraction's address. While Disney never confirmed what the permit covered, the timing aligns with the addition of the numbered markers and rocket graphics. Alien Swirling Saucers is not the first Disney spinner to use this kind of system — Dumbo the Flying Elephant at Disneyland has operated with assigned boarding numbers since 2018.
