Vero Beach has been named Skyscanner’s No. 1 trending destination for U.S. travelers in a report released in October 2026. The travel-search company said searches for the Indian River County city rose more than 200% over the 12 months it reviewed.

The coastal city, located between St. Augustine and Miami, has 26 miles of beaches and fewer than 18,000 residents. Its building code limits structures to four stories, a rule the city describes as prioritizing “sunrises, not high-rises.”

Visitors can spread out across beaches including South Beach Park, Humiston Beach Park, and Jaycee Park & Conn Beach. The nearby Indian River Lagoon is also a destination for fishing and water sports; Skyscanner described it as home to one of North America’s most diverse ecosystems.

Vero Beach Regional Airport is served by Breeze Airways, JetBlue and American Airlines. Travelers can also fly into Melbourne Orlando International, Orlando International or Palm Beach International airports. The city’s peak season runs from December through April, when weather is mild.

Skyscanner CEO Bryan Batista said the findings reflect travelers seeking trips that feel meaningful while remaining affordable and relatively close to home. Destin and Daytona Beach were the other Florida destinations in the company’s top-10 trending list.
