Sixteen Florida state parks in the Panhandle announced closures as of Oct. 7 in anticipation of weather from Tropical Storm Isaias.
The closures include Big Lagoon State Park, Perdido Key State Park and Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park in Escambia County; Blackwater Heritage State Trail, Blackwater River State Park and Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa County; and Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park and Henderson Beach State Park in Okaloosa County.
Walton County closures include Deer Lake State Park, Eden Gardens State Park, Grayton Beach State Park and Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Camp Helen State Park and St. Andrews State Park in Bay County are also closed, along with Constitution Convention Museum State Park and T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Gulf County.
Other Panhandle operations were also changing ahead of the storm. Courthouses in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson and Washington counties were set to close Friday, Oct. 9, with normal operations planned to resume Monday, Oct. 12, according to judicial officials.
Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport was scheduled to close to all operations at 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, until further notice. Airport officials advised travelers to check with their airlines for current flight information.
