A newly reported Walt Disney Imagineering permit suggests a possible play area could be part of the Monstropolis project at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The permit concerns the former Stage 1 Company Store location in the former Muppets Courtyard. The store was demolished after the area closed last year for its transformation into Monstropolis.

According to WDWNT, the listed contractor is Landscape Structures, Inc., a company that specializes in playground equipment. Disney has not announced a playground for the land, and one is not shown in released concept art, so the permit does not confirm the size or exact form of any guest play feature.

Concept art for Monstropolis does show a covered area near the Monsters, Inc. building, which is planned to house a new roller coaster. However, WDWNT noted that the former store address is closer to a plaza structure outside Harryhausen’s. The work could involve a full playground or only one or two interactive elements.
