Magic Kingdom’s historic fire engine has returned to passenger service on Main Street, U.S.A., bringing back a transportation experience tied to the park’s October 1, 1971 opening.
Guests can board near the Main Street Firehouse on the western side of Town Square for a trip toward Cinderella Castle. The open-air vehicle, recognizable for its red body and gold details, carries the number 71 in recognition of Magic Kingdom’s debut year.
The fire engine had not appeared in the Main Street Firehouse for at least three years, according to Disney Fanatic, and had been unavailable for passenger rides even longer. Other Main Street vehicles continued carrying guests during that period.
Service is typically offered in the morning rather than throughout the day, so visitors hoping to ride should look for it earlier in their visit. When it is not in service, Disney is expected to display the vehicle inside the Main Street Firehouse.

Undercover Tourist is an authorized seller of Walt Disney World tickets, often at a discount off gate price.
The return comes as other longtime Magic Kingdom experiences see changes. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress closed July 6, 2026, for refurbishment and is expected to reopen in late spring 2027. The Walt Disney World Railroad, closed since September 28, 2026, is expected to resume service in November, though Frontierland Station will remain closed for construction tied to Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land.
