Residents in Southwest Florida could spot an unusual streak in the sky Tuesday morning after a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral.
The rocket lifted off at 6:33 a.m. on Oct. 13. Its exhaust was visible over Fort Myers, where sunlight illuminated the plume and created what the News-Press described as a jellyfish-like effect.
The sighting was a view of the rocket’s exhaust high above Florida rather than a launch from Southwest Florida. Cape Canaveral is on the state’s east coast, while Fort Myers is in Southwest Florida.
