A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral on Oct. 13 was visible far beyond Florida’s Space Coast, appearing over Staunton, Virginia, about nine minutes after liftoff.
Photos from Staunton showed the rocket crossing the predawn sky, including a bright plume during stage separation high above the eastern United States.
The mission was headed to the International Space Station, according to the photo gallery’s description. The images illustrate how a launch from Cape Canaveral can be visible across a broad stretch of the eastern U.S. when sky conditions allow.
