Visit Florida has awarded $1 million to the Northwest Florida Tourism Council to promote the Panhandle as the region recovers from Hurricane Isaias, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office.
The funding is intended to resume the Northwest Florida Beaches marketing campaign, which has highlighted the region’s beaches, outdoor recreation and visitor experiences. The effort focused on fall and winter travel by visitors who can drive to the area.
Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin in Okaloosa County last Friday as a Category 2 storm, affecting a coastal community that is a major tourism destination.
The state-backed marketing funding is aimed at bringing the campaign back as the Panhandle continues its recovery.
