Walt Disney World visitors are seeing a mix of new openings, temporary closures and major construction projects across the resort this fall.

At Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad closed temporarily on Sept. 28 and is currently listed to reopen Oct. 30. Disney has not released a reason for the closure. When train service returns, it will operate between Main Street, U.S.A., and Fantasyland; the Frontierland station remains closed amid construction for the planned Piston Peak Cars-themed area.

Carousel of Progress has been closed since July 6 for a larger refurbishment, including updated attraction scenes and a new Walt Disney animatronic in the opening. Disney lists a 2027 reopening, without a specific date. Elsewhere in the park, the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island remain permanently closed after the Rivers of America area shut down July 7, 2025, for Piston Peak construction.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also changing. Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano have closed as the former Muppets Courtyard is transformed into a Monsters, Inc.-themed land called Monstropolis. Disney has said the land will include Harryhausen’s and Archie’s Square Pig Pizza. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets remains open.

At EPCOT, Coral Reef Restaurant has been closed for refurbishment since Sept. 8. The Walt Disney World website is accepting dining reservations beginning Nov. 4, a date that could indicate a reopening unless Disney announces otherwise. La Signature in the France Pavilion is also closed for refurbishment, while Guerlain products are temporarily available at nearby Plume et Palette.

Work continues in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion as well, where the public restrooms, most of the Volkskunst shop and the roof of Das Kaufhaus are under refurbishment. Disney has not announced reopening dates for the affected restroom and store areas.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, construction continues on Pueblo Esperanza, the Tropical Americas-themed land replacing DinoLand, U.S.A. Disney has announced plans for three attractions there: El Carrusel de los Animalitos, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto.

Among recent additions, Hurly-Burly has opened as a new lounge at Disney’s BoardWalk, a Cole Haan store has opened at Disney Springs, and the Vacation Fun attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has reopened after nearly two months of closure for Annual Passholder magnet distribution.
