Construction activity is continuing at Monstropolis, the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with newly planted trees now visible near the land’s entrance, according to WDW News Today.
Workers have also installed a red brick facade along the side of Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, the planned replacement for PizzeRizzo. The wall had previously been covered in white primer. WDW News Today also reported apparent roof repair work that left a section of plain stucco visible beside installed theming.
Recent aerial views show work progressing beyond guest sightlines, including early construction of an octagonal fountain, Dark Avenue and a walkway leading to the new suspended door coaster.
Monstropolis is replacing the former Muppets Courtyard off Grand Avenue and is scheduled to open in phases beginning next year, though Disney has not announced a specific opening date. Mama Melrose’s is being transformed into Harryhausen’s, the restaurant seen in the first Monsters, Inc. film.

The land’s coaster is being built partly on a former backstage Cast Member parking lot. Disney has said it will be its first suspended coaster and its first vertical-lift coaster. The former Muppet*Vision 3D theater, The Glob, will host Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike, a new show featuring an original song by Randy Newman.
