Disney has received a patent for technology that could automatically remove strangers from the background of guest photos, including photos associated with PhotoPass.
U.S. Patent 12,755,391 B2, granted Oct. 6, 2026, describes an artificial-intelligence system intended to identify and remove unwanted background people from images. The concept could address a familiar challenge for theme park visitors trying to capture a photo in a busy setting.
The patent does not confirm that Disney will add the technology to PhotoPass or say when it might be available to guests. A granted patent describes a protected idea or system, not necessarily a product that has been announced for use.
