Two Young Kangaroos Join North Florida Wildlife Center

The North Florida Wildlife Center in Lamont has welcomed two young kangaroos, Bonnie and Tilley.

Bonnie is 10 months old and Tilley is 8 months old. For now, the pair are spending time in pouches designed to resemble the pouch of a mother kangaroo, according to the wildlife center.

As they get older, Bonnie and Tilley are expected to move into the kangaroo enclosure and join the center’s two other kangaroos. That would create a group of four: one male and three females.

Visitors can currently take part in an encounter with Bonnie and Tilley while the young kangaroos remain in the pouches.

The animals are also planned as part of the center’s future Australia walk-through habitat. Animal Care Manager Sydney Schoen told WCTV that the kangaroos and emus are intended to help make the walk-through feel like “a slice of Australia.”
