Two small, rarely seen Florida snakes have received federal protection after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officially listed them as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
The Key ring-necked snake and the rim rock crowned snake are now among the nation's formally protected species. The agency describes both as among Florida's rarest native snakes.
