The 2026 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival kicks off August 27, and while most visitors are focused on the new dishes and drink lineups, a handful of smaller updates around the park are quietly worth your attention. Attractions Magazine scouted the park just ahead of opening day and flagged five changes that could meaningfully improve your visit.

The most immediately practical upgrade: small shelves have been attached to railings at select spots around World Showcase — spotted near the Mexico and Germany pavilions — giving festival-goers a proper surface to rest a plate and drink. The change appears connected to Epcot's newer solar-powered trash cans, whose design doesn't lend itself to the longtime unofficial tradition of eating off the lid. Additional high-top tables have also been added around World Showcase. Meanwhile, the playground area near Creations Shop and Test Track has been refreshed with new benches, large umbrellas, and an open artificial-turf space featuring an Epcot-style logo — a solid option for families who need a breather mid-festival.

Germany's miniature train village has received some new scenes worth a slower look, including a miniature replica of the Germany pavilion itself, a tiny construction-wall vignette, and a Snow White-themed scene featuring the cottage and the Old Hag. Also new across most Epcot restrooms: complimentary menstrual products, available at no charge from dispensers spotted during the pre-festival visit.

On the anniversary front, this year marks 30 years of the Food & Wine Festival, and that milestone is woven into signage throughout the park under the theme "Around the World in 30 Plates!" Signs highlight dishes from different eras of festival history — one example covering 2001–2010 — tying into an anniversary menu of 30 dishes that Disney says have returned or been reimagined from past festivals, with selections tracing back to the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s.

One planning note if you're heading out early in the season: not every Global Marketplace booth opens on August 27. Festival Favorites opens September 9, The Wedge (a new cheese-focused marketplace) opens September 18, and both Alps and Earth Eats are among those slated to begin serving October 2. The festival runs through November 21, 2026. This report comes from Attractions Magazine.
