Walt Disney World has officially calendared a significant refurbishment at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, targeting the convention center and the adjacent El Centro Corridor. The project runs from August 10, 2026, through late September 2027, with work phased to keep disruptions to overnight hours as much as possible.
The 220,000-square-foot convention center is one of the largest hotel meeting facilities in Florida, featuring two ballrooms — including Walt Disney World's biggest at over 60,000 square feet — along with an exhibit hall and 45 breakout rooms. Individual spaces will be temporarily unavailable at different points throughout the multi-phase project, though daily resort operations are expected to continue largely uninterrupted.
Guests staying in the resort's hotel rooms shouldn't notice much direct impact from this particular phase of work. The El Centro Corridor connects the convention center to areas near the El Mercado de Coronado food court and Rix Sports Bar and Grill, so the refurbishment's footprint is mainly on the meeting and conference side of the property.
The convention center last received meaningful attention during the 2017–2019 resort-wide renovation push, making this refurbishment overdue by most hospitality industry standards. Guest rooms at Coronado Springs, which were last refreshed around 2018, may also be candidates for a soft-goods update in the coming years, though no such project has been officially announced.
