On July 24, Wheelchairs 4 Kids brought 19 children with physical disabilities to iFly Orlando for its Wheely Fun Day Indoor Skydiving event, held as part of iFly's All-Abilities Night. For many of the kids, it was their very first time defying gravity in a vertical wind tunnel.
Before suiting up in jumpsuits, goggles, and helmets, each child trained with iFly instructors to prepare for their turn in the tunnel. The room filled with cheers and high-fives as participants soared, and afterward families gathered for pizza and swapped stories — nerves long replaced by excitement.
Kimberly Kreiner, Programs Team Leader and Wheely Fun Days Liaison for Wheelchairs 4 Kids, called the event a personal favorite, noting that it goes beyond the thrill of flight to show the children — and everyone watching — just how much they're capable of achieving.
The indoor skydiving outing is one of many experiences under the organization's Wheely Fun Days umbrella, a program of inclusive social and recreational outings aimed at helping children with physical disabilities build friendships, grow in confidence, and make memories alongside their families.
