Waterview Park Shade Structure Gets Dark Stain and Copper Trim

Construction on the new shade structure at Waterview Park in Disney Springs is moving along visibly, with the latest progress showing a notable cosmetic upgrade. The vertical and horizontal support beams, which were a honey brown color as recently as late July, have now been stained a rich dark brown throughout.

The horizontal beams have also received a thin copper cap along their tops, adding a polished finishing detail to the framework. Blue painter's tape still surrounds the black riveted panels where the vertical and horizontal beams connect, a sign that the stain was applied quite recently.

Waterview Park sits in The Landing area of Disney Springs, tucked between Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar and The Boathouse. The open-air performance and seating area has been closed since May, surrounded by mint-colored construction walls. Rolling planters and a stack of wood slats near the stage suggest more finishing work is still ahead, and an orange forklift and what appears to be a boom lift were spotted on site.

In the meantime, performers who normally take the Waterview Park stage have relocated to Riverboat Square in front of Paddlefish. While the refurbishment was originally expected to wrap up within about a month of closing, the Walt Disney World website now lists the reopening as coming "later this year."
