Walt Disney World will once again welcome the Warrior Games, with the annual adaptive sports competition scheduled for August 7–14, 2027, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. It marks the third time the resort has hosted the event, following previous appearances in 2022 and 2024.
Founded in 2010, the Warrior Games brings together wounded, ill, and injured military service members to compete across 12 adaptive sports, including archery, cycling, pickleball, powerlifting, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby, among others. Close to 200 competitors are expected to participate, representing all major military branches through five teams: Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force/Space Force, and Special Operations Command.
The games are designed not only as an athletic showcase but also as a way to support participants' recovery journeys and recognize their strength and resilience. The return announcement was celebrated with a press event and pickleball demonstration at the ESPN complex, while Army veteran and Warrior Games competitor Tony Smith was honored at a Flag Retreat ceremony at Magic Kingdom on August 6, 2026.
Disney leadership, community members, sponsors, and former competitors all gathered to mark the occasion, underscoring the long-standing partnership between the resort and the Department of Defense program.
