Walt Disney World visitors planning trips for winter 2026-27 may want to keep a close eye on the forecast. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center said on September 10 that El Niño is strengthening and has a greater than 90% chance of becoming a very strong event during fall and winter.
NOAA’s seasonal outlook favors above-normal precipitation across much of the Southeast, including Florida. Still, a seasonal outlook cannot predict conditions on a particular vacation day, and it is not a forecast that Walt Disney World will close.
A wetter pattern could be most noticeable for weather-sensitive offerings, including outdoor attraction segments and entertainment. EPCOT’s Test Track, Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Slinky Dog Dash all include outdoor portions. Lightning can pose a greater operational concern than rain alone, while some outdoor shows may also be canceled in inclement weather.
