The Walt Disney World Railroad is scheduled to close at Magic Kingdom beginning September 28 for a routine refurbishment, according to Disney’s listed schedule. The attraction is expected to remain unavailable through October 29, with a planned reopening date of October 30.
That closure covers nearly all of October for visitors who had hoped to ride the train during a Magic Kingdom day. Disney has not shared details about the work planned during the downtime.
When it returns, the railroad is not expected to resume its former full loop around the park. Since July 7, 2025, the attraction has operated as a shuttle between the Main Street, U.S.A. station and the Fantasyland station in Storybook Circus, reversing direction for the return trip.
The Frontierland Station remains closed amid construction connected with Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land. Disney has not announced when that station will reopen, so guests should not expect the traditional Grand Circle Tour to return when rail service resumes.
