Drivers heading to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom resort area will notice some meaningful changes on the ground this summer. A newly completed stretch of Floridian Way is now open, running between the Magic Kingdom parking lot and the entrance to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. For now, traffic is moving on what will eventually become the southbound lanes — the northbound side is still under construction — so expect to see concrete barriers and traffic cones even on the open portion of road.
Two of three planned roundabouts near the Grand Floridian are already finished, and once the full project wraps up, the Grand Floridian's entrance will connect directly to one of those permanent traffic circles. The Wedding Pavilion is also slated to receive a brand-new entrance south of its current location. Temporary connector roads are in place for now to reach the Grand Floridian, the Wedding Pavilion, and Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, all marked with blue wayfinding signs. Disney is calling this Phase III of the World Drive North project, with completion expected sometime in late 2027.
Perhaps the bigger adjustment for longtime visitors: the intersection where Seven Seas Drive met Floridian Way has been permanently closed. Concrete barriers now block both directions at that junction, meaning the old shortcut to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort no longer exists. To reach the Polynesian by car, drivers now need to continue to North World Drive before looping back toward the resort entrance — a simple enough detour once you know it, but easy to miss if you're working from memory or an outdated GPS route.
Disney is recommending that anyone arriving by personal vehicle follow posted resort signage and build in a little extra travel time, especially during busy arrival windows. This applies not just to overnight guests but also to anyone with dining reservations at spots like 'Ohana or Trader Sam's Grog Grotto. Guests using Disney's own transportation — buses, monorail, or boats — won't be affected by any of these changes, which are focused entirely on vehicle traffic. A recently approved permit for expanded Grand Floridian parking suggests infrastructure work in this part of the resort will keep evolving well beyond the current construction timeline.
