Royal Caribbean replaced the planned Canada and New England itinerary for Vision of the Seas with a sailing to Port Canaveral and the Bahamas after weather systems and high winds developed along the ship’s northeastern route.
The ship had been scheduled to leave Baltimore on September 24 for a nine-night cruise calling on Boston, Portland, Halifax and Saint John, New Brunswick, including an overnight stay in Saint John. Royal Caribbean said unfavorable conditions made the original route impractical after the line explored other options.
Instead, Vision of the Seas remained in Baltimore an extra day and was scheduled to depart at 3 p.m. Friday, September 25. Its revised nine-night route heads south to Port Canaveral, Nassau and Grand Bahama.
The delayed departure followed disruptions to the ship’s preceding sailing, which pushed back Thursday check-in and resulted in the overnight stay in Baltimore.
Passengers who booked Royal Caribbean shore excursions for the canceled Canada and New England calls will receive refunds as refundable onboard credit, according to the cruise line. Vision of the Seas is expected to continue sailing from Baltimore in the coming weeks before repositioning to Puerto Rico in early November.
