Magic Kingdom's long-anticipated Villains Land finally has a full identity. During the Disney Experiences showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Walt Disney Imagineering President & Chief Creative Officer Bruce Vaughn and Executive Creative Director Caroline May took the stage to confirm the land's official name and pull back the curtain on its story, attractions, and ambitions.
The narrative heart of Villains Land centers on a corrupted Wishing Well deep in a foreboding forest. According to the Imagineers, an evil wish shattered the well long ago, spreading dark magic throughout the surrounding woods — and drawing Disney's most notorious villains to the site, each claiming a piece of that power to build their own lairs. Disney compares the land's size and scope to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, signaling a major, deeply explorable addition to the park.
Two headline attractions anchor the land. The first is a roller coaster set around Maleficent's mountaintop fortress, where guests race through enchanted briar thickets. Imagineers teased that the ride will include elements never before attempted on a comparable attraction. The second is a dark ride called the Mirror Realm, hosted by the Magic Mirror from Snow White. Guests descend into the Evil Queen's catacombs to find the Mirror, who transports them into his ethereal realm — populated by a wide range of classic Disney Villains brought to life through special effects and physical sets.
Caroline May told Disney Parks Blog that the team has worked hard to make Villains Land feel both fresh and faithful to Magic Kingdom's fairytale legacy. The land's characters and environments are rooted in Walt Disney Animation Studios source material, with Imagineers drawing on the original films and deep conversations about the artistry behind each villain to ensure the experience feels authentically grounded.
