Guests heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios later this month have a concrete date to circle: September 27 is when Vacation Fun is scheduled to return to the Mickey Shorts Theater. The indoor show, which follows Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as they relive favorite vacation memories through a mix of original animation and clips from classic shorts, has been dark since early August.
The closure wasn't tied to any construction work. Disney temporarily repurposed the theater beginning August 11 to distribute a limited-edition Kermit the Frog magnet exclusively for eligible Walt Disney World Annual Passholders. That magnet pickup runs through September 24, leaving just a three-day gap before Vacation Fun is set to resume on the 27th.
It's a pattern Disney has followed before. Earlier in 2026, the same theater sat out portions of April and May while hosting a Star Wars Day merchandise event, then quietly reopened for Vacation Fun once that event wrapped. The current situation appears to be following the same playbook.
For those unfamiliar with the attraction, Vacation Fun draws on footage from several Mickey Mouse animated shorts — including Panda-monium, Croissant de Triomphe, Yodelburg, and several others — alongside animation produced specifically for the theater experience. It's a low-key, air-conditioned stop that gives guests a chance to decompress between bigger rides, which makes its absence noticeable on a busy park day.
