Guests heading to Universal Orlando Resort this fall will find the lineup noticeably thinner than usual. Five recognizable experiences are currently unavailable across Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure — a situation worth knowing about before spending upward of $100 per person on Universal Orlando tickets.
Universal Studios Florida has seen two permanent departures in recent months. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closed in August 2025 after nearly 16 years, with the outdoor roller coaster Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift slated to take its place in 2027. Fast & Furious – Supercharged then closed permanently in August 2026, leaving guests to feel the gap while waiting for future additions to arrive. The long-running Horror Make-Up Show also went dark in May 2026 for a major reimagining, with Universal targeting a winter 2026 return for the revamped production.
Over in Islands of Adventure, Jurassic Park River Adventure has been offline since January 5, 2026, for an extended refurbishment. Universal has scheduled the attraction's return for November, giving guests at least a rough planning window. Less certain is the situation with Skull Island: Reign of Kong, which shut down unexpectedly after the giant King Kong animatronic was damaged during routine maintenance. Universal has confirmed repairs are underway but has not announced a reopening date or estimated timeline.
Looking slightly further ahead, Animal Actors On Location! will wrap up its final performances at Universal Studios Florida on November 2, 2026, before the area is eventually repurposed for something new. That means the list of missing experiences could grow before some of the current closures are resolved. Universal recommends guests check attraction schedules close to their visit date, since refurbishment timelines can shift and unexpected issues can arise.
