Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed one new ride on its public development slate: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, an outdoor roller coaster scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
The coaster will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which permanently closed in 2025. Universal has said Hollywood Drift will feature 360-degree drifting maneuvers and a 170-foot vertical spike that will rise above Universal CityWalk.
Other changes are underway across the resort, but Universal has not yet announced the attractions, themes or opening dates tied to most of them. At Islands of Adventure, demolition has continued in The Lost Continent, including the former Poseidon's Fury area. The company has not identified what will replace the area.
Two permit-driven projects are also taking shape at Universal Epic Universe. A proposed two-story building connected to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic is listed at roughly 95,748 square feet, while a separate three-story project of about 93,308 square feet includes a reference to a ride maintenance bay in Orange County documents. Universal has not announced the ride names, themes or opening dates for either project.

At Universal Studios Florida, Animal Actors On Location! is scheduled to close after its November 2, 2026, performances. Universal has said the opening-day show will make way for a new experience, though it has not released further details. Fast & Furious – Supercharged also closed permanently on August 17, 2026, and Universal has not announced a separate replacement for its former building.
For visitors planning future Universal Orlando tickets, the confirmed addition is Hollywood Drift in 2027. Construction and closures elsewhere signal broader changes, but the resort has not yet attached firm attraction names or timelines to those projects.
