Construction on Disney's Animal Kingdom's upcoming Tropical Americas land is hitting a visible milestone: the tallest tower of Casita, the magical family home from the animated film Encanto, has been added to the steel framework at the site. The structure is still incomplete, but its silhouette is already recognizable when approaching from Discovery Island.
Casita will serve as the facade for Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, the brand-new attraction anchoring the land. Once the steel framing is finished, crews will enclose the structure and apply themed paneling, roofing, and paint to bring the building to life. Mountains are also being constructed nearby to conceal the ride's show building from guest sightlines.
Elsewhere in Tropical Americas — the reimagined former DinoLand U.S.A. — work is progressing on El Carrusel de los Animalitos, the land's carousel. Most of the attraction's wide roof now has paneling in place, though the carousel's central tower is still awaiting its covering.
The land's future entrance archway is also part of the evolving construction picture, giving a clearer sense of how guests will eventually flow into the space from Discovery Island. No opening date for Tropical Americas has been announced.
