Construction on Disney's Animal Kingdom's upcoming Tropical Americas land is moving at a visible pace, with two major structures now recognizable from outside the construction walls. The large steel entrance gate — tall rectangular sections joined by a broad upper beam and two diagonal braces — is now substantial enough in scale to catch the eye of guests walking by.
The carousel that will anchor the fictional community of Pueblo Esperanza is also coming together overhead. Wooden rafters have multiplied across several sloped roof sections surrounding the masonry walls, and those sections sit adjacent to the larger circular carousel canopy, which saw its prefabricated center piece installed in July.
When finished, that carousel will feature wood-carved Disney animals — including Kevin from the film Up — displayed beneath a layered canopy. A previously shared aerial view confirmed that the queue structure sits directly beside the circular carousel, with additional covered areas planned for its entrance and exit.
Elsewhere in the land, scaffolding surrounds a second set of entrance pillars where twisted rebar visible just over a week ago has already been encased in concrete, turning what were skeletal columns into solid, jagged pillars. Sharply tapered rockwork rising near poured walls and graded slopes suggests the team is beginning to define pathways and level changes throughout the area.
Tropical Americas, set within the story of Pueblo Esperanza, is scheduled to open in 2027 with the carousel, a new Encanto-themed attraction, a playground, and an Indiana Jones adventure replacing the long-running DINOSAUR ride. This update was first reported by WDW News Today.
