The transformation of The Lost Continent at Universal's Islands of Adventure is picking up pace. As of early September 2026, construction walls have moved forward to enclose the former Treasures of Poseidon gift shop, signaling that demolition of the longtime Lost Continent retail spot is imminent. The shop had already closed permanently earlier this year but had remained outside the construction zone until now.
The changes aren't limited to the gift shop side of the path. Crews have also shifted walls back near the neighboring Mythos restaurant to keep the walkway as open as possible for guests, and a snack stand along with several trees in that area have already been removed. The Treasures of Poseidon building will follow the same fate as Poseidon's Fury, the area's signature attraction, which was also demolished as part of this ongoing overhaul.
Mythos itself is slated to permanently close next year, further reshaping this corner of the park. To help offset the loss of a full-service dining option, Thunder Falls Terrace over in Jurassic Park is set to be converted into a full-service restaurant. It's a notable shift for guests who've long counted Mythos among their Islands of Adventure dining traditions.
