If you've strolled through Disney's Hollywood Studios lately, the Hollywood Tower Hotel is looking noticeably more wrapped up than usual. Scaffolding that began as a modest patch earlier this summer has now expanded to the left side of the building, climbing toward the attraction's signature Hollywood Tower Hotel signage — an area plainly visible to guests passing through the Villains: Unfairly Ever After courtyard.
What makes this more than a surface-level cleanup is how the scaffolding is positioned. It hugs windows and ornamental tilework directly, mirroring the same setup that appeared on the building's opposite side in early July. That mirrored approach points toward targeted restoration of specific decorative elements rather than a simple pressure wash.
This week brought another clue: a fresh application of pink paint on the right side of the structure. While the color matches the rest of the building well, it currently stands out against Tower of Terror's deliberately weathered, sun-bleached aesthetic. Disney will need to apply its trademark distressing finish before that section blends back into the hauntingly abandoned look the attraction depends on.
Walt Disney World has stayed quiet about the scope of the work, which is consistent with how it handled last year's exterior refresh at Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom — a project that also proceeded with no official commentary while the ride stayed open. Tower of Terror is following the same playbook, remaining fully operational for guests throughout the refurbishment.
