The measures follow three separate incidents at Disneyland between June and August 2026. The most serious occurred in June, when a 13-year-old stepped out of a moving log vehicle just before the attraction's main drop and slid roughly 50 feet down the water-slicked incline. The teenager was taken to a local hospital with minor scrapes, and the ride was shut down for an emergency response. A July incident saw a guest stand up mid-ride, triggering automated sensors that halted the attraction for 30 minutes. In August, security escorted an entire family from the resort after children in the group repeatedly stood up near the final lift hill.
What makes the new warning campaign notable is its explicit language. The fresh signage swaps out softer phrasing like "may be removed" for a firm "WILL" — making clear that standing up or attempting to exit the vehicle is a guaranteed ticket out of the park, not a maybe. Continuous audio spiels in the queue reinforce that message so riders cannot later claim they weren't informed.
Disney's safety engineers note that the danger of stepping into a log flume channel goes far beyond the obvious: submerged pumps, conveyor belts, and guide tracks lurk beneath the surface, fast-moving water can knock a person off their feet instantly, and an unauthorized exit triggers sensor cascades that can abruptly lock surrounding vehicles and potentially injure other riders on the track.
