Walt Disney World has officially confirmed that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will close on November 2, 2026, for a refurbishment expected to last roughly six to seven weeks. The nearby Tiana's Bayou General Store and Critter Co-Op will shut down at the same time, with the attraction anticipated to reopen sometime in December.
The closure comes after a rocky first two years for the Magic Kingdom ride, which debuted in June 2024. Operational struggles led Disney to rely on a virtual queue for approximately eight months before the attraction was stable enough to support a traditional standby line. Beyond reliability, guests and observers have noted issues with broken Audio-Animatronics and malfunctioning effects — significant concerns for a ride that leans heavily on its cast of characters to tell a story rooted in The Princess and the Frog.
A six-to-seven-week window should allow crews to repair animatronics, restore effects, and tackle maintenance work that's difficult to complete while the attraction runs daily. However, Disney has not announced any plans to redesign scenes, add characters, or make other major creative changes during this particular closure — so guests shouldn't expect a substantially different experience when it reopens.
Longer-term changes could be a different story. Magic Kingdom is in the middle of a major transformation, with the Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park replacing the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island area. If and when that land opens — widely expected around 2028, though no official date has been confirmed — Disney would have additional capacity to absorb a lengthier Tiana's Bayou Adventure shutdown, potentially giving Imagineers time for more substantial creative work. For now, though, nothing beyond this refurbishment has been announced.
