If you're looking to fill your calendar around Tampa and Wesley Chapel this week, there's no shortage of options. The Tampa Bay Comic Convention runs Friday through Sunday, Sept. 5–6, at the Tampa Bay Convention Center on S. Franklin Street, with doors opening as early as 9 a.m. on Saturday. Expect celebrity meet-and-greets, cosplay, and hundreds of vendors — tickets start at $35.
For something a little more boots-and-spurs, the Tampa Bay Rodeo & Family Festival comes to the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds in Dover on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4–5. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., live music kicks off at 5:45 p.m., and the rodeo itself starts at 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $40, with children's tickets at $25. Upgraded seating and parking are also available.
Horror fans get an early treat this week as Scream-A-Geddon Horror Park in Dade City opens its season on Sept. 4, running all the way through Nov. 1. Spread across 60 acres, the park bills itself as one of the best horror parks in the country. Tickets start at $35 and jump an extra $6 if purchased at the gate, so buying ahead is the smarter move.
Throughout the week, there's plenty more to explore. Thursday brings the free Rock The Park concert at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, free line dancing lessons at Keel and Curley Winery in Plant City, and the monthly Sunset Market at Midtown Tampa with live music and 40-plus local vendors. Friday opens up with Science After Dark at MOSI and a monthly sangria night at Keel Farms. Saturday stacks even more options, including the Native Plant Walk at Lettuce Lake Park, Bier Fest at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and several local markets across Wesley Chapel and Tampa.
